WHY DIDN'T THE NRA THINK OF THIS?
THE NATIONAL Rifle Association is spending large sums of money to defeat Gov. Wilder's gun-control proposal instead of cashing in on it. Since they haven't thought of it, I will establish the "Gun-of-the-Month Club." Its aim will be to give every Virginian the opportunity to buy the club's special monthly selection at the low, member's price and to accumulate 12 handguns a year. In addition, club members will receive at bargain prices offerings of other firearms. The monthly selection will arrive in a plain, brown wrapper, unless the member returns the refusal card. Weapons may be tried for 30 days and returned for a full refund if not completely satisfied.
The first month's selection is the famed Colt .45 together with an Uzi submachine gun. In successive months, we will offer Lugers, Magnums and other handguns with Kalashnikovs, Bazukas and M-1 rifles as bonus buys.
It is hoped that the club will fill a very important role in supplying those Virginians who are too shy to go to a gun store with 12 handguns and 12 exotic firearms a year. ROBERT HELLER BLACKSBURG
