POVERTY ORGANIZATION PLANS MARCH FORUM
A newly formed Wythe and Bland county organization called HOPE - Helping Overcome Poverty's Existence - will hold an open forum March 18 to get information from social agencies and the public on poverty concerns.The forum will start at 7 p.m. at George Wythe High School.
HOPE also has invited English and social studies students from all five high schools in the two counties to submit essays on poverty, with the top three to be read at the forum.
The town of Wytheville will use its new bus transit system to shuttle people at no charge to and from the forum. Anyone needing a ride must call 228-7433 (228-RIDE) before March 17. Further information is available from the Wytheville-Wythe-Bland Chamber of Commerce (228-3211). - Southwest bureau
