DRIVER CHARGED IN MOTORCYCLE RIDER'S DEATH
A Christiansburg man whose car struck and killed a motorcyclist Jan. 23 has been charged with reckless driving, police said Saturday.Gary Wayne Harvey, 33, was served with the misdemeanor warrant Friday, Christiansburg police said. Harvey was also given a summons for operating an uninsured vehicle.
John E. Rhea, 50, of Blacksburg, owner of John Rhea Nationwide Insurance Agency, died as a result of injuries he sustained when Harvey's car collided with his motorcycle near Christiansburg Mountain.
Police said the vehicles were not traveling at high speeds and Rhea was wearing a helmet. - New River Valley Bureau
