NRA SHOW TAKES AIM AT DEER
The National Rifle Association will bring three deer hunting experts to the Salem Civic Center on Monday as part of its 60-city NRA Great American Hunters Tour. Last year the event attracted about 1,000 sportsmen. The speakers, Bill Bynum, Mike Ondik and Wayne van Zowell, will appeal to hunters at all skill levels, and will provide an opportunity for one-on-one questions and answers, said Karen Mehall, of the NRA.
Bynum is an expert on the use of scents and game calling; Ondik is an authority on deer biology and behavior; and van Zowell is a firearms expert. The three-hour show starts at 6:30 p.m. The admission is $10 for NRA members; $12 for non-members.
Tickets will be available at the door begining 5 p.m., but Mehall recommends that participants preregister by calling 1-800-492 HUNT. Visa or MasterCard may be used. The call-in registration for the Salem show will be open until midnight today.
The only other stop in Virginia will be March 13 in Richmond.
