COSTIGAN FIRES IN 36 IN VICTORY
Donnie Costigan scored 36 points, including five in the final 41 seconds that helped rally Covington Boys' Home to an 89-85 victory over Highland in a non-district boys' basketball game Saturday.Costigan, honored before the game for reaching the 1,000-point career mark last week in a game at Stanleytown Baptist in Bassett, nailed six 3-pointers for the game, with the most important one being his last.
Down 85-82, Boys' Home tied the score on Costigan's 3-point shot with 41 seconds left. Costigan then had a steal and layup with 20 seconds remaining to put the Indians up 87-85. Greg Kier's two free throws with five seconds to play put the game out of reach.

LYNCHBURG - Shawn West hit 24 points as E.C. Glass (8-12) pulled away in the third quarter for the non-district victory.
The Eagles (9-7) were led by Tremayne McHeimer with 13 points. \

LYNCHBURG - Marty Chandler scored 28 points, half of them in the second quarter, as the Tornadoes won a Virginia Independent Conference game.
Timberlake Christian (11-9, 3-8) forged a 39-26 halftime lead behind Chandler's second-quarter outburst. Mike Kelly had 17 points and Travis Stickle 16 for the Tornadoes.
Roanoke Valley Christian (5-10, 4-8) got 15 points from Josh MacDermod and 12 from Joe Surkamer. \

Holy Cross 40 Sophomore center Abby Dickson dominated with 21
points and 19 rebounds to lead the Celtics (16-3, 10-2) to the Blue Ridge Conference victory over the Gaels (9-8, 6-7).
Wendy Murdock added 11 points for Catholic. Emily DeGuzman paced Holy Cross with 15. \

LYNCHBURG - Jenny Coons sank a jumper from the free-throw line with seven seconds left as the Eagles soared past the Tornadoes.
Timberlake Christian (6-10, 3-6) led until Roanoke Valley Christian tied the score with 1:20 left. Coons' shot gave the Eagles the Blue Ridge Conference win.
Angie Coleman led the Tornadoes with 22 points, including three 3-pointers.
