BRIEFLY . . .

Central Fidelity Bank said Monday it will issue $600 million worth of bank notes with maturities of from 30 days to 30 years to institutional investors. The program is expected to begin with an issuance of $200 million to $250 million over the next two weeks. Proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes.

General Electric, Ford Motor Co. and a pair of overseas companies are said to be among a whittled-down group of likely suitors for Coldwell Banker Real Estate. Sears is thought to be asking between $1 billion and $1.5 billion for its real estate arm. A deal is expected within a few weeks.
