PULASKI HIGH PLAYERS 2ND IN DRAMA CONTEST
The Pulaski County High School Players came in second in the district drama competition they hosted over the weekend, but hope to do better when they take their one-act play to regional competition. The school has won first place in district and regional competition for the past three years; this time it finished in the district behind Patrick Henry High School from Roanoke. But a second place allows the group to take its comedy, "God" by Woody Allen, to the regionals in Garfield near Washington later this month. Cast and crew leave Feb. 19 and compete Feb. 20.
All the plays were rated by three judges, and Pulaski County High's entry drew ratings of 99, 95 and 78. Rhonda Welsh, drama teacher and director of the play, said the one lower rating pulled the entry down to second. "But it really doesn't matter as long as we get to go to the regionals," she said Monday.
