AVIAN FLU DISCOVERED IN N.J. BACKYARD FLOCK
Investigators have found the avian flu virus in a "backyard flock" of chickens and other birds kept by a New Jersey man, the Department of Agriculture said Monday. It is the first time the virus has been traced from live poultry markets in Northeastern cities to a farm.
Although the man, Oscar Huntsinger, 69, of Clayton, N.J., had contact with markets in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, it is too early to tell whether all the virus found in the live markets could be traced to his birds, the agency said. - Associated Press
