VOLUNTEERISM TO BE THURSDAY TALK TOPIC
Maureen Watkins, an expert on inspiring volunteerism, will speak Thursday from 8 to 10 a.m. in Virginia Tech's Owens Banquet Room. The Division of Student Affairs is sponsoring the talk.Watkins has developed classes and workshops in volunteer program management for several years. She developed the first non-profit board training series in central Virginia and created a volunteer system for a large neighborhood center in Cleveland. She also developed and introduced the first certificate program in volunteer administration in the Cleveland area in 1990.
In 1992, Watkins began teaching courses in volunteerism at Kent State University and Case Western Reserve University, as well as independent courses throughout Northeastern Ohio.
