LAND-SWAP OBJECTIONS RAISED
Town Council has raised objections to Montgomery County's proposed land
swap for a bus access road to the planned new Blacksburg elementary school.
The county wants to swap a 50-foot right-of-way at the western edge of the
school property (see map above) to adjacent landowner Michael Kipps for a
right of way for a bus access road to the school from Cambridge Road in the
Haymarket Square subdivision. Council says the deal will jeopardize the future
of a recreation park the town has planned next to the school. The county Board
of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on the land swap on Feb. 22 at 7
p.m. in the courthouse.
