NORTHSIDE SHUTS DOWN LORD BOTETOURT 69-54
Ten of 12 Vikings who dressed scored Tuesday night as Northside downed visiting Lord Botetourt 69-54 in a Blue Ridge District boys' basketball game.Walt Derey led Northside (15-3 overall, 5-2 Blue Ridge) with 17 points and 17 rebounds. Greg Pickeral added 11 points and Jimmy Porter 10 for the Vikings, who broke the game open by outscoring the Cavaliers 24-15 in the third quarter.
Jason Lang and Ryan Salvi led Lord Botetourt (6-11, 1-6) with 11 points apiece.
Pulaski County 49 Patrick Henry 47
Patrick Henry took a big early lead, but the Cougars bounced back to tie by halftime and escaped with the Roanoke Valley District victory at the Patriots' gym.
The Patriots' valiant effort was turned back by Tyrone Hash's two free throws with four seconds to go, breaking a 47-47 tie.
PH (2-15, 1-5) led 18-8 after the first quarter with the help of Shannon Taylor's nine points. He finished with 16. Pulaski (14-4, 5-1) rallied to tie it at 24 by halftime and it was close the rest of the way.
Eric Webb led Pulaski with 14 points, and Montie Brown added 10.
Roanoke Valley Christian 69 Lynchburg Christian 59
Roanoke Valley Christian's 17-point lead was cut to three midway through the fourth quarter, but the Eagles hung on for a Virginia Independent Conference victory.
Brad Suhr scored a career-high 23 points and was 4-of-5 at the free-throw line after Lynchburg Christian closed to three points. Sam Donnelly added 14 points for Roanoke Valley Christian (6-10, 5-8).
Gabe Lyons poured in 31 points for the Bulldogs (7-11, 5-6).
Hargrave Military 76 Roanoke Catholic 40
Inus Norville scored 33 points and Rod Cobb added 21 as the Tigers romped over the Celtics to remain undefeated in the Virginia Independent Conference.
Hargrave Military (15-2, 11-0) jumped to a 19-4 first-quarter lead and took advantage of 25 Roanoke Catholic turnovers on its way to victory.
Mike Kolnok scored 17 points, including four 3-pointers, and Tony Williams added 14 to lead the Celtics (4-21, 2-10).
Glenvar 66 Craig County 33
Brad Melton scored 24 points and grabbed 20 rebounds as the Highlanders romped over the Rockets for a Pioneer District win.
The score was tied at 20 at halftime. Melton scored 15 points in the third quarter as Glenvar (13-5, 9-1) outscored Craig County 23-7 and 23-6 in the third and fourth quarters, respectively.
The Highlanders shut down the Rockets' offense, allowing only 13 Craig County (8-9, 2-6) field goals and holding top scorers Robbie Huffman and Kevin Lucas to six and nine points, respectively. Glenvar also outrebounded Craig County 39-17 and forced 21 turnovers.

BUCHANAN - Forward Jody Steger had 13 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists to lead the Knights to the Pioneer District victory over the Chargers.
Lloyd Moore added 12 points and 11 rebounds for James River (7-11, 6-4).
Craig Phillips led the Chargers (7-10, 3-5) with 12 points.
