BOYS' HOME DROPS UNION 64-47

Donnie Costigan scored 19 points, including three 3-pointers, as Covington Boys' Home defeated Union (W.Va.) 64-47 in a non-conference boys' game on Wednesday.

Chris Hicks had 17, George Wood 16 and Patrick Hall 12 to round out the scoring for the Indians who improved to 13-7.

\ Fort Chiswell 79, Giles 66: At Max Meadows, Steve Widner had 32 points and the Pioneers fought off a furious rally by the Spartans (6-10, 5-9) to win a Mountain Empire game. Matt Chumbley added 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Pioneers (12-5, 10-5) while B.W. Hill had 11 points. \

Magna Vista 81, Dan River 62: At Ringgold, Magna Vista worked its fast break for 30 first-quarter points and a 17-point lead on its way to a Piedmont District win over the Wildcats (4-13, 3-12). Rodney Redd scored 16 points, Evan Penn had 11 and Rodney Tanks 10 for the Wildcats (13-4, 12-3). \

Chatham 68, Bassett 62: At Bassett, Rodney Williams and LaVelton Pope scored 15 points apiece as the Cavaliers (6-11, 6-9) flew past the Bengals (3-14, 3-12) in the Piedmont District. \

Highland 77, Harman, W.Va. 68: At Monterey, Chris Schill scored 26 points and John Colaw 23 to spark the Rams to the non-district triumph over Harman. Highland is 3-13. Vance 22, Dudley 8, Ketterman 10, W. Teter 25, Thompson

1, J. Teter 2.\ Gretna 79, Tunstall 63: At Gretna, the Hawks pulled away from a 50-50 tie to win their third straight Piedmont District game. Corey Boone scored 24 points for Gretna (4-13, 4-11), which lost to the Trojans (10-8, 8-7) earlier this season. \

George Wythe 62, Chilhowie 55: At Wytheville, Tracy Brown scored 20 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as the Maroons (11-7, 8-3) rolled over the Warriors (11-6, 7-5) for a Hogoheegee District win. \

Timberlake Christian 97, Carlisle 42: At Lynchburg, Travis Stickle scored 16 points as Timberlake Christian (12-9, 4-8) romped in a Virginia Independent Conference game. Carlisle (2-14, 2-10) was led by Andrew Tunnell with 15 points. \
