TOWN-LIMIT CHANGE IS UNDER DISCUSSION
The town and Giles County have started discussing a request by the town to change its corporate limits, the town said in a news release Wednesday.Much of the area under consideration is served by town utilities and can be best served by other town services, the release says.
Pearisburg officials also are interested in acquiring land for future development because most land in the town is developed, the release says.
Town and counties officials agree the town needs more land, the release says, but "both parties have expressed legitimate concerns which need to be resolved prior to any agreement."
County Administrator Ken Weaver and supervisors Ted Timberlake and George Hedrick are representing the county in the discussions. Town Manager Ken Vittum and Councilmen Dan Level, Danny Robertson and George Psathas are representing the town.
