IMAGES OF DINOSAURS TO ROAM IN COMPUTERS
Images of dinosaur skeletons at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., soon may find their ways into Southwest Virginia classrooms through computer printouts.Technology teachers, media specialists and librarians from Smyth, Washington, Tazewell, Wise, Scott, Russell, Lee and Buchanan counties and the cities of Bristol and Norton learned of such computerized communication during recent visits to Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology and the Fairfax County school system's Chapel Square Media Center.
The visit was the third major activity coordinated by the Southwest Virginia Public Education Consortium in cooperation with the Virginia Economic Bridge Initiative, Fairfax County schools and George Mason University in Fairfax.
Dinosaurs and other images that can be used in classes, such as varied Smithsonian collections and National Gallery of Art works, can be brought to Southwest Virginia schools by a computer link to the Chapel Square Media Center files.
