TEACHERS SEEK RAISE IN PULASKI
Pulaski County teachers asked the School Board on Wednesday night to consider a step pay increase plus 2 percent for the coming school year.The Pulaski County Education Association ranked a salary increase plus a career step at the top of a priority list in a recent survey of teachers belonging to the organization.
The association estimated that the proposed raises would cost the county $546,515 more in the 1993-94 school year. Its other budget requests were for the school system to:
Fund health care premiums.
Restore duty-free lunch periods for teachers.
Eliminate bus duty and breakfast duty.
Work to lower the number of pupils for each teacher, especially at the elementary level.
Continue an elementary specialist's program.
Provide planning time for elementary teachers.
Improve the supplemental pay scale.
Extend benefits to educational support personnel.
