OBIT CHERVAN, DOROTHY PONTING

CHERVAN, Dorothy Ponting, 82, of Bedford, died Tuesday, February 9, 1993 in Lynchburg, Va. She was born January 13, 1911 in Cleveland, Ohio, a daughter of the late Walter Raymond Ponting and Fay Ida Tammen Ponting. Her husband was the late Frank F. Chervan. She was Chairman of the Board of Frank Chervan, Inc., a member of the American Red Cross, the Virginia Baptist Hospital Auxiliary, the Bedford Memorial Foundation, and was a member of the St. John's Episcopal Church, Bedford. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Fay C. and Gerald W. Hill, Forest; Janet C. and Richard A. Terrill, Bedford; four grandchildren, Steven R. Terrill, Greensboro, N.C.; Gregory M. Terrill, Bedford, Kevin C. Hill, Jennifer J. Hill, both of Forest. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, February 13, 1993 at noon from the Grace Episcopal Church, Revenna, Ohio, with interment to follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Revenna, Ohio. The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Updike Funeral Home, Bedford, and request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Bedford Public Library Campaign, 321 N. Bridge Street, Bedford, VA 24523. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home, Bedford.
