ANDREW W. KING, formerly of Roanoke, has been named senior vice president of Liberty National Life Insurance Co. in Birmingham, Ala.King joined Globe Life and Accident Insurance Co., a Torchmark Corp. subsidiary, as a sales agent in Roanoke in 1980.
After several promotions with Globe, King was named regional vice president for Liberty National Life, also a Torchmark subsidiary, in 1990.
King, son of James A. and Shelby A. King of 5601 Penguin Drive S.W., is a 1975 graduate of Cave Spring High School and a 1979 graduate of Virginia Tech.
\ GEORGE W. NESTER of Vinton has achieved the certified manager designation from the Institute of Certified Professional Managers at James Madison University.
Nester, vice president of Mattern & Craig Consulting Engineers, met education and experience requirements and passed an examination on managerial theories and applications.
\ WOODY FARLEY, chief engineer at the Jefferson Lodge in downtown Roanoke, was recognized for outstanding performance and dedication during his more than 30 years of service.
\ THREE ROANOKE COLLEGE STAFF MEMBERS recently received the college's Distinguished Service Award.
Christine Cable of Salem, coordinator of the word processing center, has served the college for 25 years.
Laura Harris of Roanoke, a senior housekeeper, has worked for the college for 32 years.
Judith Nelson of Salem joined the college staff in 1982. She currently is director of public relations and also has served as director of the Center for Community Education and Special Events and director of annual resources. During 1992, in addition to her public relations duties, she was responsible for the yearlong sesquicentennial celebration and the dedication of the Fintel Library.
\ BRAD SNEED, an investment broker at J.C. Bradford & Co. in Roanoke, has been named to the American Funds All-American Team.
The team recognizes brokers for their financial expertise and dedication to sound investment principles.
\ DAWN K. FREEMAN and ED McDONALD of IDS Financial Services Inc. have won the IDS Jupiter Award for their production during the third quarter of 1992.
