HOLIDAY FORD MAZDA TO BE AUTOMATED DEALER

Holiday Ford Mazda of Blacksburg, part of Duncan Enterprises, which owns several car dealerships in Southwest Virginia, will become the state's latest car dealer to participate in the automated dealer project.

The program links car dealers with Department of Motor Vehicles computers, allowing them to issue registrations, titles and license plates to car buyers. This eliminates a trip to the DMV and the need for a 30-day temporary tag.

Currently, 19 dealers participate in the program and will be joined locally by Hudson Chevrolet-Jeep Eagle in Pulaski Feb. 22 and Shelor Chevrolet-Toyota-Volkswagen-Subaru-Chrys-ler-Plymouth in Christiansburg, also in mid-February.

State Sen. Madison Marye, D-Shawsville, introduced a budget amendment in the 1992 General Assembly that provided funding for the program.
