BARTER OFFERS STUDENT DEAL FOR `MIRACLE WORKER'
Barter Theatre is taking reservations from school groups for "The Miracle Worker," its first production for 1993.Visiting school groups can sign up to see the play from April 13 to May 8.
The story of the young blind and deaf Helen Keller and her teacher, Annie Sullivan, will be performed on weekday mornings for school groups during those weeks. Public performances will be Wednesdays at 2 p.m. and Saturdays at 2 and 8:30 p.m.
There will also be two Thursday public performances, April 15 and May 6 at 8 p.m. After-theater discussions between the acting company and audience will follow those two performances.
"This is a powerful and inspiring drama, adapted for the stage from an incredible and inspiring story that has touched the lives of countless people," said Richard Rose, Barter's artistic director.
He said the play by William Gibson is already getting reservation calls from schools. "The 1993 season is off to a great start," he said.
The play has a cast of 12 with full-scale scenic and costume design. Student admissions are $5.25, with one adult admitted free for every 25 students. Barter will provide participating teachers with study guides.
