SALEM NATIVE RANKED IN CAA SWIMMING
Jeff Taylor, a sophomore at James Madison University, is ranked second in the 500- and 1,000-yard freestyle events heading into the Colonial Athletic Association Swimming and Diving Championships next weekend in Wilmington, N.C.The Dukes (8-2) are defending champions and are favored to repeat. A 1991 graduate of Salem High School who competed as a member of the Roanoke Gators, Taylor has the best times among JMU swimmers with a clocking of 4 minutes, 41.12 seconds in the 500-yard race and 9:41.07 in the 1,000-yard race. His times have qualified him for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships to be held March 4-6 in Buffalo, N.Y.
