Cursillo renewal
A Cursillo renewal weekend to enhance spiritual growth will be sponsored April 22-25 by Presbytery of the Peaks (Presbyterian Church U.S.A.). It will be held at Camp Hat Creek, a denominational retreat center south of Lynchburg. Application may be made now for the spring retreat, for which enrollment is limited. Counseling workshop
Total Life Counseling, a Roanoke practice headed by Dallas Theological Seminary graduate David W. Peterson, has scheduled an inquirers' workshop Friday and Saturday to introduce a program of counseling training for laity.
The workshop, which will be held at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church on Hershberger Road at Florist Road Northwest, is free. Its hours are Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those who wish to receive more intensive training may then register for a course with fee of $70. Leakey to speak
Richard E. Leakey, a researcher into the origins of humankind, will speak Feb. 23 at 8 p.m. at Old Dominion University in Norfolk. The free program, open to the public, will be in the Mills Godwin Auditorium. Leakey, son of two noted anthropologists, has been researching fossils for 20 years. Plantation tours
Tours of historic plantation homes and the 260-year-old Prince George Winyah Episcopal Church in Georgetown, S.C., are scheduled March 26 and 27 in the area near Myrtle Beach. Sponsored by the church, the tours cost $20 for each day or $35 for both Friday and Saturday. Advance tickets are needed and may be obtained by sending checks for the full amount and designating day, along with $1 for postage, to Prince George Winyah Episcopal Church, P.O.
