BARTON-SHOWALTER

Dr. and Mrs. Walter Seignious Barton of Wytheville announce the engagement of their daughter, Beverly Renee of Roanoke, to Richard Russell Showalter, Jr., of Snowville. He is a son of R. R. Showalter, Sr., of Riner and Gladys Willis Showalter of Radford.

Ms. Barton is a granddaughter of Mrs. James Hooks Fulghum, Sr., of Roanoke. She is a 1983 graduate of the University of Georgia and received her Master of Social Work degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Ms. Barton, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, is employed in the Counseling and Psychology Department at the Lewis-Gale Clinic, Inc.

Mr. Showalter is a grandson of Lucy Remines Willis of Blacksburg. He graduated from Radford University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation and Leisure Services. He is employed by Roanoke County Parks and Recreation as a Program Coordinator.

A July wedding is planned.
