PHOEBUS STAR SETS VHSL MARK
La'Keshia Frett of Phoebus High School in Hampton scored 26 points in Friday night's game against Bethel to become the first basketball player in Virginia High School League history to score more than 3,000 points.Frett, a senior, has a four-year total of 3,015 points. She made 12 of 17 shots and pulled down 14 rebounds during 21 minutes of play as Phoebus beat Bethel 66-23.
Earlier in the season, Frett surpassed the previous girls' record of 2,376 set by Chris Moreland of Mount Vernon High in 1982 and the boys' record of 2,530 set by Odell Hodge of Laurel Park in 1992.
