RELIGIOUS BROADCASTERS REGROUP AT MEETING
Television and radio preachers gathered Saturday for their first convention since the election of President Clinton diminished their political clout.Several thousand people turned out for the 50th annual National Religious Broadcasters conference at the Convention Center. Speakers were to include the Rev. Pat Robertson, a 1988 presidential candidate.
The Virginia-based group, which includes some of the best-known and politically influential members of the Christian right, has suffered several political setbacks recently, including Clinton's decision to ease restrictions on abortion and allow homosexuals in the military.
Seminars scheduled for Saturday included a session entitled, "Assessing the New Administration." Another focusing on morality in television was called, "The Media is Polluting Our Minds: Enough is Enough."
