TOWSON STATE RUN SUBDUES RADFORD

Devin Boyd and Scooter Alexander each scored 29 points to lead Towson State University to a 98-90 Big South Conference basketball victory over Radford University on Saturday night.

Towson State (14-8 overall, 10-2 Big South) needed a 9-0 run - sparked by Alexander, who scored six of those points - to erase an 86-85 deficit with 3:55 remaining and win its fifth straight game.

Towson State, in first place in the conference, squandered a 14-point second-half lead as Radford's Doug Day hit five 3-pointers. Day, who finished with 19 points, scored on a breakaway layup to give Radford its only lead of the second half.

Towson State led at the outset, surrendering the lead briefly late in the first half. Radford (12-13, 6-6) assumed a 26-25 lead on a Day 3-pointer with 8:50 left to play. But Alexander, who reached a career high in points, came back with two baskets to lead Towson State to its 47-41 halftime lead. \
