OBIT BROWN, E. COLLINS
BROWN, E. Collins, 67, of Roanoke, died Saturday, February 13, 1993 in a
Roanoke hospital. He was born September 5, 1925 in Indiana, Pa., son of the
late Samuel Thomas Brown and Katherine Woodcock Kiefer Brown. He served in the
Navy during World War II, graduated from the University of North Carolina,
Chapel Hill, and was retired vice president for Wheat First Securities.
Surviving are his wife, Sue Trinkle Brown; two sons, Michael Collins Brown,
Smith Mountain Lake, and Gregg Venable Brown, Elliocott City, Md.; one
stepson, Jock R. Wheeler Jr., Richmond; three stepdaughters, Catherine W.
Bedford, Atlanta, Ga., Berkley J. Wheeler (Mrs. Bruce Chittenden), Atlanta,
Ga., Whitney R. Wheeler, Norfolk; three stepgrandchildren; sister and
brother-in-law, Elizabeth B. Watts and William Watts, Roanoke. A private
graveside service will be held in Evergreen Burial Park, Tuesday morning. A
memorial service will be conducted at St. John's Episcopal Church, 11 a.m.
Tuesday, February 16 by the Rev. Thomas P. O'Dell. In lieu of flowers, the
family suggests that memorials be made to the Minister's Discretionary Fund,
St. John's Episcopal Church, Roanoke, Va. Arrangements by Oakey's Roanoke
Chapel.
