OBIT STONE, MARY BOCOCK

STONE, Mary Bocock, 91, of Roanoke, died Sunday, February 14, 1993, in a local hospital. She was the widow of Archer P. Stone. She was a member of Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church since 1932, where she was a member of the choir for all those years. Mrs. Stone retired from the Roanoke City School system in 1967 with 38 years of service and a total of 45 years teaching. She loved music, art, and poetry, and painted oil scenes that are cherished by her family. Surviving are a stepdaughter, Helen Tice of Baltimore, Md.; three nephews, Jimmy, Dicky and Tommy Bocock, all of Virginia Beach; also a number of other relatives and close friends including, Adrian Healy, Lynn Davis, Martha Ann Patterson, and Sarah Renick, all of Roanoke, Evelyn Hunt of Daleville, Betty Bennett of Johnson City, Tenn., Bob McLelland of Roanoke, Miller Maxwell of Lynchburg, Boyd Healy of Sun City, Fla., and James White of Roanoke. Services will be held at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel 1:30 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Tupper Garden officiating. A graveside service will follow in the Presbyterian Cemetery in Lynchburg, Va. at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church, 1837 Grandin Rd., S. W., Roanoke, Va. 24015.
