OBIT GARLICK, BERNICE VIRGINIA AKERS
GARLICK, Bernice Virginia Akers, 76, of Colonial Heights, died Sunday,
February 14, 1993, at Richmond Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Ironto,
a daughter of the late George and Liza Bowles Akers, and a member of Immanuel
Baptist Church. She is survived by a son, James A. Garlick, Ashland, Va.;
three sisters, Mrs. Odell Browning of Rich Creek, Va., Mrs. Kent Ratliffe of
Elliston, Mrs Floyd Kanode of Lynchburg; three brothers, Frank Akers of
Pearisburg, Sherman Akers of Blacksburg, Herman Akers of Lafayette; one
granddaughter, Dana Butcher, Grand Island, Neb.; and several nieces and
nephews. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Baptist
Church, Colonial Heights, with the Rev. Robert Baker officiating. Interment
will be in Southlawn Memorial Park, Petersburg, Va. In lieu of flowers,
memorial contributions may be made to the James Russell and Bernice Garlick
Memorial Fund, Immanuel Baptist Church. The family will receive friends
Tuesday from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, Colonial
Heights.
