LEXINGTON DRIVER 4TH IN LMSC RACE
While NASCAR's top stars battled at Daytona International Speedway last week, Late Model Stock Car drivers from Southwestern Virginia battled other drivers from all over the country in the Winston Invitational on Saturday night at nearby Volusia County (Fla.) Speedway.
Frankie Pennington of Lexington had the best run, finishing fourth behind Barry Beggarly from Pelham, N.C., Late Model national champion Larry Phillips of Springfield, Mo., and Jay Fogleman.
Thirteen classes of cars competed over nine nights at the track.
