WHAT A DIFFERENCE THAT `A' MAKES
In the business world, a sound-alike name can be a mixed blessing. And that's how it was for Murray's Meats on 24th Street Northwest when a newspaper story last month said Murry's Steaks on Cove Road Northwest had closed.People don't always read carefully, so some Murray's customers thought they were losing their meat supplier.
The Roanoke Times & World-News reported on Jan. 19 that the Frostville, Md., company had closed the Cove Road store on Dec. 31, also ending its attempt to franchise the operation.
Murray's owner Ron Davis used Murry's demise to get additional business. He started carrying Murry's label meats and supplying some New River Valley restaurants that the Maryland company had served. Davis said he also supplies The Roanoker Restaurant. Davis' family has owned Murray's for two years.
