CHECK YOUR BENEFITS

The Social Security Administration has a short, uncomplicated form people can fill out to get an idea both of how much they earned in the past and how much they will receive in retirement.

To receive a copy, call 1-(800) 772-1213 and ask for a Personal Earnings and Benefit Estimate Statement.

Callers will receive a request form in three days. It takes about three weeks to get the actual statement once they send their information.

The Social Security Administration advises all workers to check every three years to ensure that their wage records are accurate.
