WET SNOW BLANKETS AREA; SLEET, RAIN SEEN 2
Wet snow coated the ground throughout the Roanoke and New River valleys Monday night, but few accidents were reported on the roads.The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory, and by 10 p.m. said that 1-3 inches of snow had fallen in some areas. The snow was tapering off at that time and was predicted to turn into sleet and rain.
State police and local police and sheriff's department dispatchers reported few accidents, with a couple of fender benders in Roanoke County and the New River Valley. No serious accidents were reported.
The weather service said parts of the Blue Ridge Parkway had been closed because of the snow.
