BULGARIAN MUSICIANS TO GIVE CONCERT AT E&H
Mezzo-soprano Joy Flower and conductor-composer Georgi Robev will appear in a joint concert with the Emory & Henry College Concert Choir Thursday at 8 p.m. in Memorial Chapel.Flower will give a vocal concert, and join the choir in performing four of Robev's compositions under his direction.
Flower, a Bulgarian, toured central Europe as a soloist with the Bulgarian National Children's Choir. After high school, she earned an advanced degree in electrical engineering but was drawn back to performing.
She earned a master's degree in singing at the Bulgarian State Conservatory.
Robev, also a native of Bulgaria, is professor of conducting and choral arts at the Bulgarian State Conservatory. He joined the faculty there in 1959 after attending the conservatory and conducting the Bulgarian National Military Choir and Orchestra and the Bulgarian National Choir.
