OBIT KILLINGER, JOSEPHINE WILLIS PETERS
KILLINGER, Josephine Willis Peters, 86, of Salem, died February 13, 1993
after a long illness. She was born in Richmond, Va., October 18, 1906, the
first child of the late Rev. and Mrs. James Sidney Peters. She attended
Randolph-Macon Woman's College and graduated from Farmville State Teacher's
College. She received a Masters degree from the College of William and Mary,
taught school in Newport News and was a guidance counselor in the Norfolk
Public School System until retirement. Mrs. Killinger was a member of First
United Methodist Church, Salem, the Jamestowne Society, and the Salem
Historical Society. She is survived by her sisters, Agnes P. Nolan, Hockessen,
Del., Sara Lee Pollard, Spartinburg, S.C., Betty P. Moorman, Salem; brothers,
the Rev. Howard R. Peters, Salem, Franklin W. Peters, Charlottesville;
sisters-in-law, Marian Peters, Charlottesville, Alice Lindsey Peters, and
brother-in-law, Dr. Warren L. Moorman, both of Salem; also a number of nieces
and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, in
the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Salem with Rev. Thomas Joyce
officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the
Richfield Foundation Memorial (Garden Fund). The family will receive friends
prior to the service Wednesday.
