OBIT YANCEY, FRED SCOTT
YANCEY, Fred Scott, 87, of 208 Hickory Dr., Old Hickory, Tenn., formerly of
Roanoke, died Tuesday, February 16, 1993, at his home. Born in Forest, Va.,
Mr. Yancey was a graduate of the New London Academy. He retired after 48 years
of service with the N & W Railway as supervisor of the Labor Relations office.
Mr. Yancey was a member of Colonial Avenue Baptist Church and was a Past
Master of Princeton Lodge #134 A.F. & A.M., Princeton, W. Va. Surviving are
his wife, Maxine Brown Yancey; three sons, William Tudor Yancey, Roanoke;
Philip Brown Yancey, Old Hickory,. Tenn., Robert Louis Yancey, Buxton, N.C.;
one daughter, Fredilee Yancey, Old Hickory, Tenn.; seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Friday at Oakey's South Chapel by
the Rev. Branan G. Thompson Jr. and Dr. Harry Y. Gamble. A graveside service
with Masonic grave rites will be conducted noon Friday in Forest Baptist
Church Cemetery, Forest, Va. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m.
Thursday at Oakey's South Chapel.
