IN SERVICE

ARMY RESERVE PVT. TRACY L. RIVERS, son of Cordella R. Lacy of 816 Westwood Blvd., has completed basic training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.

Rivers is a 1992 graduate of Patrick Henry High School.

\ NAVY CHIEF PETTY OFFICER DONALD T. WILLIAMS of 7844 Forest Edge Drive S.W. recently received the Navy Achievement Medal.

Williams was cited for superior performance of duty while serving aboard the frigate USS Miller, based in Newport, R.I.

Williams now is assigned to Naval Marine Corps Reserve Center in Roanoke.

\ NAVY PETTY OFFICER 1ST CLASS DONALD W. PARKER, son of Ada C. Parker of 609 Milton St. N.W., has been deployed aboard the destroyer USS Comte de Grasse, based in Norfolk, to help the Coast Guard intercept Haitians attempting to reach the United States by sea.

The five-ship task force provides temporary emergency assistance at sea, including medical care, shelter and food.

Parker is a 1980 graduate of William Fleming High School.

\ MARINE LANCE CPL. ELAINE J. SELGREN, daughter of Glenn J. and Mary A. Hammerand of 142 Verndale Drive N.E., recently received a certificate of commendation for superior performance of duty while assigned with Headquarters Squadron at Marine Corps Air Station in El Toro, Calif.

\ NAVY SEAMAN JASON T. JAMIESON, son of Tim L. and Ginger V. Jamieson of 4131 Snowbird Circle, has been deployed aboard the destroyer USS Comte de Grasse, based in Norfolk, to help the Coast Guard intercept Haitians attempting to reach the United States by sea.

Jamieson is a 1988 graduate of Cave Spring High School.

\ MARINE PFC. DANNY R. BLEVINS JR., son of Danny and Amy Blevins of Glenvar, recently graduated from basic training at Parris Island, S.C., where he was meritoriously promoted to his present rank.

After he completes four weeks of infantry training at Camp Lejeune, N.C., Blevins will start management school.

Blevins is a 1991 graduate of Glenvar High School.
