TIFFANY RECALLS HIGH-LEAD FRENCH CHINA
Tiffany & Co. has voluntarily recalled its private stock hand-painted French china because it may expose users to high levels of lead. The china sells at an average price of more than $1,000 a place setting.Patterns affected can be identified by the "Tiffany & Co. Private Stock Hand Painted Made in France" painted in red or blue on the bottom of the china.
The New York company announced the recall Thursday in a joint news conference with the Environmental Defense Fund. The fund has been conducting a national testing program to determine lead levels in china.
The recall doesn't affect Private Stock giftware or Tiffany & Co. brand china, the company said. - Staff report
