RADFORD LOSES LACROSSE OPENER
Rob Grella's breakaway goal with 11 seconds left gave New York Institute of Technology a 12-11 college lacrosse victory Thursday at Radford.Grella's goal, his fourth of the game, helped the Bears outscore Radford 8-1 in the second half and erase a 10-4 halftime deficit.
Steve Govett's fourth goal two minutes earlier had put the Highlanders ahead 12-11. Rick Riker also had four goals for Radford.
Govett is two goals shy of Radford's career record of 91 held by Tom Branch, from Roanoke.
\ Virginia Tech will be the host for the 1993 Metro Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday. Men's and women's competitions begin at 10 a.m. and will end with the men's 4x100-meter relay at 4:20 p.m. The meet is open to the public.
