OBIT-THOMAS, EVELYN MARIE BRUMFIELD
THOMAS, Evelyn Marie Brumfield, 75, of 921 Sanhill Drive, Lynchburg, died
Thursday, February 18, 1993 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was the widow of
R. Bruce Thomas and was affectionately known as "Ninie". Mrs. Thomas was born
in Roanoke, February 18, 1918 a daughter of the late Bunyan Byrd and Sarah
Anne Caldwell Brumfield. She was a member of Quaker Memorial Presbyterian
Church and was a retired secretary of Pilot Freight Carriers. She is survived
by a sister, Mrs. John (Pauline) Montgomery; a sister and brother-in-law, Mrs.
Mildred B. and S.P. Montgomery; a sister-in-law, Edith Morrissett, all of
Lynchburg; nieces and nephews, Henry Turner, Paul Turner, Marie Montgomery,
Bobby Montgomery, Gay Clark, David Baumgardner, Sue Douthat, Betty Bruce
Fairchild, Alice Clare Brewer, Charles Morrissett, nine great-nieces and
nephews; and four great-great-nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be
conducted Saturday, 11 a.m. at Quaker Memorial Presbyterian Church by the Rev.
Bernard K. Bangley and the Rev. James G. Thompson. Interment will follow in
Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends today 7 to 8:30 p.m.
at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel and other times at the home of Sue Douthat, 11211
Timberlake Rd. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer
Society.
