3 KILLED IN COLLISION, INCLUDING FATHER, CHILD
Three people - including a father and daughter - were killed Friday evening in a fiery two-vehicle crash in Montgomery County.State police said William Wayne Tuck, 36, of McCoy was killed when his pickup truck collided head-on with a four-wheel-drive vehicle. Tuck's daughter was reported dead by a spokeswoman at Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where the girl was airlifted after the accident.
Tuck's wife also was injured in the crash, but the extent of her injuries was not known late Friday.
The driver of the other vehicle, who also was killed, had not been identified.
Police said the four-wheel-drive vehicle caught fire after the 7:40 p.m. collision.
Link Sheppard, Longshop-McCoy Fire Chief, said Tuck lived near the Fire Department and was well-known by its members. His brother-in-law is a member of the department.
The vehicles were traveling in opposite directions on McCoy Road, and state police said there were no skid marks.
The road was blocked for about three hours while rescue workers freed the victims from the wreckage.
