OBIT COOPER, CARLTON DUVAL
COOPER, Carlton Duval, 71, of Thaxton, died suddenly Friday, February 19,
1993 at his residence. He was born in Bedford County on August 30, 1921, a son
of the late Thomas Henry Cooper and Rosa Lurline Old Cooper. He was a member
of Union Henry Methodist Church and was retired from the U.S. Department of
the Navy after 34 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Lydia P.
Cooper; four sons, Ronald Cooper, Williamsburg, Ky., David Wayne Cooper and
his wife, Teresa, Roanoke, Harold K. Cooper, Paul Eugene Cooper, both of
Thaxton; one brother, Glenwood Cooper, Forest; two sisters and
brothers-in-law, Irene and Harry Harris, Silver Spring, Md., Doris and Bob
Krider, Glendora, Calif.; also a granddaughter, Amanda Leigh Cooper, Roanoke.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, February 22, 1993 at 2 p.m. at
the graveside in Virginia Memorial Park with the Rev. K. Adams officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford on
Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m.
