GENETICALLY INCLINED TO DISMISS STUDIES
CONGRATULATIONS to the homosexuals. You have successfully managed to convince a vast number of Americans that your sexual orientation is genetic.A letter to the editor from Bob Shields on Feb. 5 ("Studies defy characterization") cited a study performed last year attempting to somehow link homosexuality to certain genes and chemical variations in the brain. I remember that study, and it was full of the many coulds and maybes that so frequently characterize scientific studies.
If, by chance, the study could not link one's biological makeup with sexual orientation, I believe it would be politically incorrect for the scientists involved to reveal the findings. Then again, if homosexuality is really genetic, how in the world is it getting passed down from generation to generation? Ponder that one.
Look, homosexuals are no more genetically inclined toward members of their same sex than I am toward blondes over brunettes. Please, don't fan the fire of irresponsibility by blaming your chosen behavior on something you can't control. FRANK LEE ROCKY MOUNT
