AUTHOR PLANS WORKSHOP ON WRITING, SELLING NOVELS

A five-hour workshop on writing novels will be offered by novelist Robert McKinney on March 13, 2-8 p.m., at Blue Ridge Books.

McKinney's published novels include "Death in a Small Southern Town," a mystery. He has taught college-level creative writing and is a free-lance magazine writer.

The cost for participants is $30, which includes a workbook. Pre-registration with the fee, by calling Blue Ridge Books at 228-8303 or coming by the store, is required because the workshop size will be limited.

Topics will include research, organizing and writing, manuscript preparation, market selection and getting published.

This workshop is separate from an eight-week creative-writing class and workshop for adults on fiction taught by Liza Field at Blue Ridge Books starting March 8.
