MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN WINS AWARD
Buford Grubb of Max Meadows in Wythe County has been chosen for BondCote Corp.'s semi-annual president's superior performance award for hourly personnel.Grubb is a production maintenance technician at the Pulaski operation, responsible for maintaining all machinery in the coating, mixing and inspection departments.
He got the award for designing and building a device to eliminate a safety hazard. The device is attached to a forklift to remove and install rolls in machinery; it previously took four workers to remove them.
Grubb also designed and built a device that eliminated the need for stopping a machine while rolls of material were being seamed together. The device improved quality, increased production and saved money.
"Efforts put forth by employees such as this not only help BondCote maintain an excellent safety record," the company said in a statement, "but also make a much safer working environment for all employees while helping the company meet its goals."
