ROANOKE WORKS OT FOR VICTORY
Rick Becker scored 28 points and grabbed 10 rebounds Saturday as Roanoke defeated Hampden-Sydney 85-79 in overtime in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference basketball game.
Roanoke (19-5 overall, 14-4 ODAC) outscored the Tigers 13-7 in the overtime, including nine consecutive free throws. Joe Schrantz scored five of his seven points in overtime and Michael Thornton made four consecutive free throws for the Maroons.
Ryan Odom scored 13 points to lead Hampden-Sydney (12-12, 8-10). Billy Reid had 12 points, and Todd Kerr, Dee Vick, Nate Schwab and Jason Leonard each added 11.
Hilliary Scott had 15 points and 10 rebounds for Roanoke before fouling out in the final minute. Thornton had 12 points. \
