VIRGINIA TECH EXTENDS HOME WINNING STREAK
Virginia Tech extended its school-record winning streak at home to 10 games Saturday night with an 82-62 victory over the University of South Florida in a Metro Conference game.The victory pushed Tech's record in Cassell Coliseum to 11-1. The 11 wins are the most recorded by the Hokies at home in one season.
Tech forward Lisa Griffith scored 20 points and had 10 rebounds for her 10th double-double of the season. Center Jenny Root added 17 points and Christi Osborne had 16, including 4-of-4 shooting on her 3-point attempts.
Tech (16-6 overall, 6-3 Metro) shot 50.8 percent from the field. It was the fourth consecutive game the Hokies shot better than 50 percent.

CHARLOTTESVILLE - Heather Burge scored 14 of her 16 points in the second half as the Cavaliers pulled away from the Tigers for the ACC victory.
Virginia (19-5, 10-3) had a 35-34 lead at halftime but built the lead, behind Burge's 14 points, to 53-40 with 14:41 left. Virginia made 19 of 27 from the floor.
Clemson (15-8, 7-7) made 11 of 34 shots in the second half and 24 of 65 for the game.
Shandy Bryan led the Tigers with 16 points, and Tara Saunooke had 14 and Kerry Boyatt-Hall 13.
Wendy Palmer came off the bench to score 17 points in 11 minutes for Virginia. Charleata Beale had 15 points, and Dena Evans and Heidi Burge each scored 11. \

Hollins 45
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Catherine Herring scored 16 points and Brenda Davis added 15 and grabbed 15 rebounds as Guilford downed Hollins.
The Quakers outscored Hollins 29-20 in the second half as Hollins sank seven of 35 shots from the field.
Serena Beedie scored 19 points and Shaye Strager had 13 points to lead Hollins. \
Friday's games
\ Roanoke 60, Emory & Henry 48: In Emory, the Maroons avenged an earlier home loss with a victory over E&H. Roanoke, tied with Emory & Henry at the half, gradually added to its lead throughout the second half and scored their last 14 points on free throws. Roanoke was 15-of-19 from the line in the second half.
Heather Conley scored 18 points for Emory & Henry (12-11 overall, 11-6 Old Dominion Athletic Conference) to lead all scorers. Kay Caldwell had 16 points for Roanoke (18-5, 15-3) and Debbie Puch added 12.
\ Radford 81, Winthrop 74: At Rock Hill, S.C., Tammie Crown and Shannan Wilkey scored 21 points each as the Highlanders (13-8, 11-2) won a Big South game over the Eagles (5-18, 4-9).
\ Methodist 83, Ferrum 60: At Fayetteville, N.C., the Monarchs (13-10, 7-2) took control in the second half and knocked off the Panthers in a Dixie Conference game. Ferrum was led by Nikki Claiborne's 14 points. Ferrum made only three of 14 free throws.
