COSBY TO RETURN TO NBC IN 4 MYSTERY MOVIES

Bill Cosby can't own NBC, so he's rejoining it.

In the coming season, Cosby will star in four light-mystery movies that he hopes to spin off into a weekly hour in the fall of 1994.

As with the 1984-92 "Cosby Show," his new programs will be produced in New York. Meetings are to he held shortly to develop the concept.

Cosby's return to the third-place network he led into first place in the 1980s was the first big coup for new NBC West Coast President Don Ohlmeyer, who jubilantly announced the new Cosby show Thursday.

Cosby, one of the world's richest entertainers - Forbes magazine estimates his net worth at more than $300 million - late last year had contemplated buying NBC. He decided not to go ahead with partners in a bid when NBC's parent, General Electric, held firm in its $4 billion asking price.
