PANTHERS LOOK FOR QUICK REBOUND
The Ferrum men's basketball team took its lumps with a 34-point season-ending loss at Division II Longwood on Saturday, but the Panthers have until Friday to recover.Ferrum (18-6 overall, 9-1 league), regular-season champion of the Dixie Conference and the NCAA Division III South Region's top-ranked team, receives a bye in the conference tournament, which begins with quarterfinals Tuesday.
The Panthers, the league's defending champions, will play the winner of the quarterfinal between North Carolina Wesleyan and Methodist. The semifinal game will be at Christopher Newport at 4 p.m. Friday. The other men's semifinal is at 8 p.m.
Ferrum's women are seeded fifth and will play at No. 4 N.C. Wesleyan on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The winner takes on top-seeded Methodist in the semifinals.
Women's semifinals will be at Christopher Newport at 2 and 6 p.m.
Both championship games will be at Christopher Newport. The women's final will begin at 6 p.m. and the men's at 8.
