PANEL URGED TO DENY REQUEST FOR INFORMATION
The staff of the West Virginia Public Service Commission has recommended that the commission deny a request of power-line opponents for additional information from Appalachian Power Co.Common Ground, a Monroe County, W.Va.-based opposition group to Apco's planned high-voltage line, asked last month that Apco be ordered to provide more route information, as well as more maps.
Several other matters related to procedures in the power-line case also were opposed by the staff memorandum, subject to commission approval.
The case likely will be "one of the biggest and most complex cases this commission has presided over in years," the staff said.
It will be of concern "to many, many West Virginia residents and Appalachian ratepayers."
Ten days ago, Apco filed an application for West Virginia approval of the 115-mile planned power line from West Virginia to Cloverdale.
A recommendation from a State Corporation Commission hearing examiner on Apco's application for approval in Virginia is pending.
