OBIT ADAMS, ILETA REESE, (MRS. H. E. "NAVY" ADAMS)

ADAMS, Ileta Reese, (Mrs. H. E. "Navy" Adams), 89, of Lexington, died Sunday, February 21, 1993, at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home. She was born on September 14, 1903, in Rockbridge Co., Va. She was the daughter of the late Ida Gordon Reese and Sylvester Buchanan Reese. Mrs. Adams was a graduate of what is now James Madison University, and at that time was Madison State Teachers College. She taught in the Rockbridge County Schools but spent most of her life teaching in the Covington and Alleghany County school systems. She taught for 40 years, mostly social studies and history. Her husband, H. E. "Navy" Adams, who precedes her in death, was a well-known dentist in Covington. She is survived by two stepchildren, James E. Adams of Huntington, W.Va., and Frances Neal Carroll of Crawfton, Md.; also a sister, Dorothy Reese Nicely; and a special niece, Louise W. Stuart, both of Lexington. There are also many other nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 1993, at 3 p.m. in the Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor, Va. with Dr. L. Randolph Harrison officiating. The family suggest memorials be made to the Lexington First Aid Crew. Arrangements by the Harrison Funeral Home, Lexington.
